Biography Maria Aristova
Maria Aristova lives and works in St.Petersburg and is a member of the Union of Artists of Russia and St.Petersburg. In 2010, she graduated from the Imperial Academy of Arts named after Ilya Repin, the department of Eduard Kochergin.
The artist is a winner of many prizes in Russian and International competitions, exhibitions and art-projects. In 2015, she opened the art school #art_life of Maria Aristova, where children and adults can attend painting workshops, as well as participate in various art competitions. Since 2018, Maria has been working as a curator for @artistspaintspb exhibition project.

The art of interior design…
PortfolioInterior is a living space for one, two, three and sometimes even hundreds of people if we talk about commercial or municipal spaces. The designer’s task is to come up with the original idea for the interior decoration and at the same time to take into consideration wishes, character and special features of the people who will use the interior.
I use various textures when decorating a room and combine different materials, just like I do in my paintings. The eclecticism – combination of the incompatible, in my opinion, is the most popular trend of our time.
I have been designing interiors since 2015. Within 4 years I designed projects both for living and public spaces. My education helps me a lot – I studied in the Imperial Academy of Arts, the department of theatre scene painting, where we studied all kinds of interior from the antiquity to modern times.
When designing a project I generate ideas, develop the concept, select colours and find compositional solutions, choose furniture, material, provide partial and full monitoring during renovation works. Drawings and visualization are done by the specialists working in my team.

#art_lifespbMy studio is a place where you can come and look at the paintings, as well as see the process of their creation and to connect to art. It’s the place where everyone can create their own little masterpiece and I am sure that anyone can do it. The most important is to have a desire and also to listen to the teacher!
The advantages are: small groups of 3-7 people, which is a wonderful opportunity to approach each student individually; the extensive working experience in teaching and art, that’s why students of the studio get a unique opportunity to participate in exhibitions and art-projects in Russia and abroad.
We paint in oils, copy the classics, learn to paint a human – sketches and drawings from life, “art&wine” on Fridays, outdoor workshops and plein-air!
Exhibitions
I have participated in numerous art events which include over 100 various exhibitions and art projects from the traditional to the avant-garde ones and 15 personal exhibitions in Russia, Sweden and Italy.
2018
- October 25 – November 3, participation in the international exhibition of arts and humanities of the Spanish city Melilla, the UNESCO centre, district of Melilla.
- October 4 – October 12, participation in the international exhibition “The City of Happiness” where I presented 5 of my works from the new “Moments” series, dedicated to St.Petersburg. The exhibition was confined to the 60 years of the twin cities of St.Petersburg and Antwerp. At the opening ceremony the Consul General of Belgium in St.Petersburg, Mr Hans Timbremont, received my painting “Breath of Winter” as a gift.
